2) You work for a small pharmaceutical company and have been given a drug that treats hypertension.  Noticing that preeclampsia is a hypertensive related disorder; you recognize that this drug may significantly improve fetal outcomes in women suffering from the above-mentioned condition. Since the drug is already in production and clinical testing, you will need to present a report detailing the mechanistic challenges of placental drug delivery to the vice president. You will require her to support move the drug forward into clinical development to treat preeclampsia, but you need to familiarize her with the mechanistic barriers to drug delivery in pregnancy.  This is particularly a challenge, since you know that her experience is in the pharmaceutical manufacturing and processing area and she is unaware of the opportunities and challenges that drug therapy presents in pregnant women. This should be a fairly concise, yet comprehensive discussion that provides balance and should focus on changes that pregnancy has on the maternal state, the placenta and the fetus.  Proper clarification of the risks as well as the potential rewards needs to be discussed so she can present the project to management without any problems. This should be done in two pages or less. (25 points).  [Note: This is a very relevant example of what is occurring in industry today.  Many of my colleagues talk about the growing challenges of having to write justifications for their projects.]
