Research Analysis Assignment: Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 4

Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 4

The topic selected

Coming up with a topic to talk about could be challenging. However, in-depth research, clear identification of the field of study, and selecting multiple topics make it very easy to develop a good topic. The topic which interested me much like a Family Nurse practitioner (FNP) was the Practice guidelines for family nurse practitioners (Fenstermacher & Hudson, 2019).  This topic interests me much as it helps me learn more skills of a successful nurse as I work towards improving my skills as a nurse.  The topic also relates very much to my practice, and it would provide valuable information surrounding my practice.

Professional practice use of the article

The article that I chose on family nurse practitioners guidelines talked about various concepts of becoming a successful family nurse. The concept provided by the article enhances the quality and advancement of practice in nursing roles. This fact shows the professional use of concepts in the article.  These concepts assist a nurse in achieving a unique service delivery strategy (Santana, 2018). They also aid in coming up with patient care strategies wick help in improving patient satisfaction

Analysis using the research analysis matrix

Analysis of the article was an integral part of assisting me in knowing the article’s importance to my practice. Using an effective method of analysis made it easier for me to come up with effective analysis. The following Research Analysis Matrix helped develop a reliable analysis of the article and its relevance to my practice.

Research question Methodology Analysis
Is this article relevant?

This article is relevant, especially by looking at the way the article was published. The article is published within the last five years, making it very reliable (Fenstermacher & Hudson, 2019).

Look at the year it was published.

See if it is a peer-reviewed article.

The year of its publication proves that it contains relevant and up to date information. This first research question’s methodology proved that the article is also a peer-reviewed article making it fit for use in research

–          Look at the author’s credentials and the year the article was first published.

The authors are both qualified and working in the field of Family Nurse Practice, which is my field. The article was published in the year 2019, making it fit for my research.

How does the article relate to my practice?

The article I was to use should be relevant to my practice.

·       I first looked at the article to see if it could relate to my practice and I found this article to be perfect.

See if the article contains information which relates to Family Nurse practitioner.

–          I looked at the information which relates to my practice in the article. This information includes improving my practice as a nurse and how Family nurses could increase their skills.

–          Use a simple analysis to determine the information in the article.

I had to ensure that the information in the article was reliable sand relevant to my practice.

·        I used simple analysis, such as examining each topic to see if it is relevant to my research.

Why I would recommend the article

This reason is reliable for various reasons. The first reason is that the article is reliable, considering that it is not old. It contains current information that is reliable and relating to modern-day nursing practice. Secondly, the article’s authors are well-known and have written many more articles that have been used in various academic research works. These authors, which include Karen and Barbara, both have high academic qualifications in Nursing. They are qualified as Registered nurses, Family Nurse Practitioners, and MSN holders (Fenstermacher & Hudson, 2019). Such qualifications make the article reliable. It also contains relevant references which show that it respects academic integrity. The article also contains relevant information supported by facts. The authors are trying to communicate about effective strategies for improving family nursing practice.

Summary to add to my Academic and professional practice

I would make various approaches to identify and analyze peer-reviewed research to increase my academic and professional development. I would first look at the peer-reviewed research and determine if a well-known scholar wrote it. I would also look at its main themes and analyze how it is structured and written. I would also look at the research findings and analyze its sources to determine its publication type and reliability. This move will help me correctly identify and analyze the research and improve my academic and professional practice.

Using a database is an effective strategy for identifying peer-reviewed research. A database provides a lot of information that is updated occasionally. I would use this strategy to find peer-reviewed research as it is reliable and easy to use. The second effective strategy is using what you already know (Hoyle & Johnson, 2015). Using information that one already knows makes it easier to develop effective and reliable peer-reviewed research. It also makes it easy to identify the most reliable and fact related research.

I intend to use the database as a resource for finding a peer-reviewed research in the future. This move is because database resource only includes updated sources and offers more sources that I could find the most interesting. The database also contains research that has been verified as peer-reviewed, written honestly, and maintains academic integrity (Bordet, 2018). My future research will depend on this resource as I work to improve my academic and professional practice.
