Survival Analysis

Purpose: The purpose of this learning activity is to demonstrate your understanding of survival analysis for measuring nursing phenomena in advanced nursing practice.

The relation between alcohol and cancer has been extensively studied, this article takes it a step further and includes smokers.  The group of participants seemed adequate as well as the range of time.  I appreciated that the researcher also included all the non-cancer diseases, ie: diabetes, heart disease, stroke etc.  More and more research is being conducted on the affect of free radicals in our bodies.  Both men and women are affected, it still is astonishing that with all this evidence, we continue to consume so many pollutants. I would be interested to hear more about the “Cox proportional hazards models” the researcher used.  Did you find the non-parametric regression curves were a useful tool? Good Work!
