Nursing is not just an occupation or a job; it’s a philosophy of caring for human beings. It’s more than simply taking care of basic needs. Nursing is about providing the best care possible for each individual patient while maintaining their dignity and humanity at all times. Nurses must provide quality information, timely intervention, and accurate assessment of the unique needs of their patients.

There are many different types of nurses, each with a specific focus and purpose. There are many possible avenues for entry into this lucrative field including LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse), RN (Registered Nurse), APN (Advanced Practice Nurses), BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), and MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) degrees.

The two most common types of nurses are those that work on the medical-surgical unit, floor, or patient care area as a registered nurse, and those who go to a doctor’s office for their daily duties as a licensed practical nurse.

A medical-surgical nurse would typically work in a hospital setting and care for patients with multiple types of illness. A licensed practical nurse, on the other hand, works in many different places such as doctor’s offices, nursing homes, schools, etc., and may work under or be supervised by a registered nurse or physician (depending on the setting).

Nursing is all about caring for humanity. It’s more than taking care of basic needs; it’s about providing the best possible care for each patient while maintaining their dignity and humanity. I feel that this can be done by providing quality information, timely intervention, and accurate assessment of the unique needs of each patient. Nurses must provide these things for each patient without neglecting their own personal well-being.

I have three main philosophies on nursing:

– Always provide the best possible care and information to your patient.

– Do not neglect yourself or others like you do. You need to be well-rounded to take care of others properly.

– Work efficiently and effectively, with the focus always on the big picture: provide care for all patients involved.

I always try to keep my mind focused on the big picture: the patient I am currently working with. However, it is also very important that I do not lose sight of the other patients on the unit and what they need. I feel that if a nurse does both things (focuses on their task while realizing what else needs to be done) then they are providing excellent care to all involved.

A personal philosophy of nursing drives the nurse to be better in all aspects. It’s not just about being a good caretaker but also making sure that you are looking out for yourself and maintaining your own well-being. If you don’t take care of yourself, you will not be able to provide care for others. Nurses need to focus on the big picture. This includes ALL patients, not just one patient at a time. It doesn’t matter how many patients are on the unit or in the hospital; nurses should always keep their eyes open to see what else needs to be done and do it right away.

My nursing philosophy has helped me throughout my whole nursing career. It’s what keeps me going every day and doing the best I can to provide excellent patient care for all patients I encounter.
