Bandura’s Social Learning theory states ,”People learn through observing others’ behavior, attitudes, and outcomes of those behaviors. Most human behavior is learned observationally through modeling, and from observing others.” ( Freedom, 1947) Social learning theory explains human behavior in terms of continuous reciprocal interaction between cognitive, behavioral, and environmental influences.

Bandura believed in “reciprocal determinism”, that means the world and a person’s behavior cause each other, while behaviorism essentially states that one’s environment causes one’s behavior.Bandura also considered personality as an interaction between three components: the environment, behavior, and one’s psychological processes. ( Freedom, 1947) His theory is related to Vygotsky’s and Lave’s theories which emphasize the importance of social learning.

“According to research there has been clear evidence that clearly states that the level of violence on television poses substantial cause for concern.” Content analysis studies demonstrate that violence is a central aspect of television programming which children tend to watch. These findings from the scientific community make it clear that television violence is a troubling problem for our society.( Dale Kunkel, PhD )

According to claim the evidence is believed to be direct causal because children learn through observation and will imitate behavior that is not appropriate. In today society many TV programs contain some kind of violence. By the children watching these programs children believe that it is ok for them to act aggressively which may lead to consequences in the future.

Other than TV many parents in today’s society do not monitor what their children are watching on TV or even when using electronics. TV is one way the children observe violence but many of our youth play games that are violent and tend to display aggression due to what they see. Parents need to have conversations with their children and teach them what is right and wrong and also have consequences for negative behavior due to imitating negative behavior that they have seen. When children are not taught this at home they may tend to be more violent and aggressive in public due to what they have observed.

Part 2 Motivation

Motivation is the force that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. It is what causes us to take action, whether to grab a snack to reduce hunger or enroll in college to earn a degree. The forces that lie beneath motivation can be biological, social, emotional or cognitive in nature. ( Freedom,1947)

There are 5 theories of management. They are Hertzberg’s two factor theory,Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.Hawthorne Effect.Expectancy Theory.and the . Three-Dimensional Theory of Attribution. When thinking about the 5 theories I believe Hertzberg two factor theory would appeal to me. I believe this theory focuses on the motivation and hygiene which relate to job performance. ( Cherry, K 2016)

This theory implies that for the happiest and most productive workforce, we would need to work on improving both motivator and hygiene factors. In the workforce we should try and help motivate our employees to make sure they feel appreciated and supported. We need to give plenty of feedback and make sure our employees understand how they can grow and progress through the company. This will help them grow and also strive to reach their goals instead of giving up. I do believe this theory would work for me because I am a positive person and always striving to reach my goals. On the flip side we need to be more conscientious of the hygiene factors which may lead employees to be unhappy in the workplace, not show up to work on time and can play an effect on the employee to strive to reach their goals.

In my opinion I do believe that this theory can play a huge role in promoting growth in the workforce and encouraging the employees to go back to school to reach their goals. We do have to keep in mind we need to improve on motivator and hygiene factors to make this happen.

After reading more about this theory I would definitely use in the workforce. I would make sure my work habits and anything I undertake in my job would be done to the best of my ability. I would ask for constant feedback on how my job performance can be better so I can be able to reach to my full potential.

In the workforce I believe motivation theories due to play an impact on the employees for job success. When employees work hard and positive feedback is given the employees attend to strive more and become more self motivated to achieve their goals.
