America Jones, age 16, accompanied by her mother, who reports that America “is not eating right,” that she has lost weight and she is bruising easily. “Something is wrong with her.”

Throughout the health assessment course(s) you have had opportunities to conduct a health history, to complete a systematic review of systems and to perform physical examinations.  In this assignment follow the format in the example bellow.

Complete the following:

  1. Review the case studies provided.  Select one that you interest you and that you will choose for this assignment.
  2. For the case you have selected, respond to the questions listed below:

– Include your detailed symptom analysis, including focused history taking and physical examination components that you would complete.

– Consider all information presented in the case. Generate a minimum and a maximum of 4 relevant differential diagnoses and consider possible data collected during the focused history and physical examination pertinent to each diagnosis. Using all resources available to you, differentiate between each of the diagnoses, focusing on a description of presenting symptomatology and relevant pathophysiology.

– Provide a summary of your findings in relation to the differential diagnoses. This summary will explore your thinking in relation to your diagnostic reasoning. It is also an appropriate place to illuminate red flags you would be considering during your assessment of a real patient in clinical practice.

– Identify 4 diagnostic tests or assessment maneuvers that you would utilize to assist you in “ruling in” or “ruling out” your specific hypotheses. Complete an analysis of reliability, validity, sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of the diagnostic tests or assessment maneuvers that you have selected.

– Support your choices for diagnostic testing and/or maneuvers with a current and relevant clinical practice guideline. Provide a brief description of the guideline and what professional healthcare organization supports it (if possible).

– Use APA format, 10-15 pages, double-spaced, supply all references and resources used to complete the diagnostic reasoning assignment.
